Papers from Stalag 4B held in Royal Engineers Museum at Chatham reveal Sydney Davidson escaped from POW Campus Transit camp in Italy. He was sent then to Stalag 4b Mulbergh (Elbe) Germany where he was court martialled for tunnelling. He was liberated by Russians. He had served in Crete with 3 Special Service Battalion and was awarded the Royal Oak.
