My uncle Jack Mooney was reported missing in France on 20th May 1940; it was later announced that he had been captured and sent to Lamsdorf POW Camp Stalag VIIIB in Poland. He was serving as part of the BEF attempting to delay the German advance. After almost 5 years in captivity, he was sent on one of the Long Marches west as part of the German retreat from the advancing Russians. He was killed on 16th of April 1945 and is buried in the Durnbach War Cemetery, Bavaria.
