Dvr. Leonard Somerfield
British Army 1 Corps HQ Royal Army Service Corps
from:Walsall
(d.2nd June 1940)
My great uncle, Leonard Somerfield, was born in April 1919. His twin sister Evelyn was my grandmother.
Leonard was a member of the BEF in France. He was a driver in the Royal Army Service Corps, service number 115116, attached to 1 Corps HQ. He was killed in the evacuation of Dunkirk. It was believed he made it, onto a ship, which was attacked and sunk. Leonard has no known grave, and is commemorated on the Dunkirk Memorial. He was 21 years old. RIP Leonard. Never forgotten.
