Pvt. Theodore Tracey

United States Army

from:Binghamton, New York

Theodore Tracey was captured by German soldiers somewhere in Germany. He had lost contact with his unit. Happening upon a farm house and hearing muffled voices from within Theodore approached the house. He then heard some laughing coming from inside. Thinking he had found friendlies he knocked on the door of the house. A German soldier opened the door saw the American uniform standing there. The German then said in very good English, "come on in the war is over for you". Ted was sent to Stalag-IV and nearly starved to death in the following months and years. He survived the war and repatriated home to Binghamton New York
