Sapper Robert Kirk was the son of James Kidd Kirk and Catherine Jackson Kirk, nephew of Mrs. C. J. Campbell of Newburgh, Fife. He was aged 36 when he died and is buried in the Kloosterzande General Cemetery, Zeeland, Netherlands.
