William Durrans enlisted on the 14th of May 1942 at Congleton. He joined the 146th (Pembroke Yeomanry) Field Regiment, as a gunner/driver. The Regiment was part of the 7th Armoured Division and 8th Army and saw action in North Africa, Sicily and Italy, France and Germany. It was equipped with 5.5 howitzers, 25 pounder guns and limbers and Sexton SPG.
William survived the war.
