Sea. James Byrne
Merchant Navy
from:Liverpool
James Byrne, was my uncle, my fathers only brother, known to have survived torpedoing twice, and living to tell the tale.
After demob. he was manager of two Liverpool pubs, the first at the bottom of Spellow Lane, near Everton's ground and were he and my father Thomas Joseph Byrne were great supporters. Jimmy survived many years after the war, leaving family of 5 and wife Josie, who has also died.
