Charles Harry Croucher British Army 1st Battalion Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry from:Rainham, Kent My father, Charles Croucher, served in the 1st Battalion, Oxford and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (43rd Foot) from 1939 until 6 months before the end of the war. The reason being that he lost his right eye in a mortar bomb attack and for the rest of his life wore a glass eye. He was awarded the 1939-45 medal, the Defence medal, the France and Germany Star and the 1939-45 Star all of which I have. He died in 1999.
