L/Cpl. Gladys Emma Dunbar
Auxiliary Territorial Service 133rd (M) H.A.A. Regiment, 472nd Battery Royal Artiliary
from:Sway, Hants
My mum Gladys Dunbar served from 15th of August 1941 to 1st of September 1945. She served in various places around britain. She never spoke of it only to mention that she was at Spurn Point on the searchlights. There was an incident where she lost her sight due to the lowering of the lights, she did regain her vision but, had to wear glasses from then on.
I recently managed to obtain a copy of her service record, for the first year it shows her whereabouts, after that it simply states UK as her location. Shorthand on record sheet is difficult to read. Like others I wish we'd talked more.
