Flt Sgt William Parkin was awarded the DFM in Nov 1940 whilst flying Wellington bombers with 115 Squadron. He then went on to fly out of Malta and the Middle East flying over 60 operational sorties. On leaving the RAF at the end of the war he had gained a commission and retired as a Flt Lt.
