Pte. Edward King
British Army Royal Hampshire Regiment
from:Erdington, Birmingham
Ted King joined the Warwicks in 1942 and was transferred to the Hampshire Regiment. He fought with the 8th Army in Africa and was among the first troops to land at Salerno in Italy where he was captured by the German Army.
He was transferred to Lamsdorf 344 VIII B (Poland) where he worked as a Paramedic, he was held until the inmates of the camp were forced to march to Belgium by the Germans. Many of his friends and colleagues died of brutality and starvation along the road but he survived. A tribute to his courage and resilience.
