Pte. Anczel Dauber
British Army Palestinian Pioneer Corps
from:Poland
Anczel Dauber was born in Kolymea Poland and enlisted in the British army in Palestine after leaving Poland. We do not have records of how this was achieved as we are still researching. He was captured in Crete on 1 June 1941 and was a prisoner in Stalag XVIIIA, Wolsburg, Germany. He served again in Palestine post war 1945-48 in the Jewish Brigade.
When he returned to Poland in the interim period he found that his family had not survived.
He married in 1945 and then migrated to Australia with his wife and son in 1949. He passed away on 19 November 1988 in Brisbane.
