Royal Air Force 550 Squadron
Rhys Thomas volunteered early in WWII. He underwent pilot training, and then pilot instructor. Joined 550 Squadron in June 1944 and flew his first mission on the night before D Day over Normandy. He completed a tour and went back to pilot training before leaving the RAF. His 550 crew consisted of Farmer, Cronk, Curtis, Wilkins, Stack and Beardmore.
