248992 Sgt. Stan Coome Royal Air Force 51 Squadron I knew Stan Coome in the early 2000s, just prior to his death. He told me that he had been a rear gunner on Halifax bombers at RAF Snaith during the war. The war ended before he had completed his first tour. This caused him some disappointment as he felt that he had not done enough. He was a very sprightly old fellow, I took him flying a couple of times in light aircraft and he could climb in quicker than I, despite being 40 years my senior.
