Pte. James William Limer
British Army Pioneer Corps
from:Barnsley
Jimmy Limer always said that he spent the war in a POW camp, where he spent his time making bricks for fireplaces. The family dismissed this as a fanciful tale. We have only just found the documentation that proves he was a POW and we think that he was in Stalag XXB. If he was there then his story of making firebricks makes sense as they could easily have been for concentration camp crematoria use.
