Sgt. Ronald Jack Hillerby

British Army 5th Btn. Kings Own Royal Lancaster Regiment

Jack Hillerby joined up aged 18 in 1939 from Heysham village along with other friends. He served throughout the entire Second World War, surviving Dunkirk. De-mobbed at the aged of 23 with no job and having to support his family, he took to the building trade and worked self-employed locally until retirement. He died aged 66.

Not sure where this is taken.  Xanten Bridge not traceable.

With brothers and sisters on leave after Dunkirk in Morecambe.
