Pte. Alfred George "Jon" Shwalbe
British Army 10th Btn. Royal Berkshire Regiment
from:Cornwall
(d.10th Dec 1946)
I found Alfred Shwalbe's grave in the British War Cemetery at Vevey Switzerland. Being from Berkshire myself I thought I'd do a little research to find out what more was known. The information I provide is from CWGC site. Since 10th Battalion was disbanded after Anzio I have to assume he was taken prisoner in Italy (or North Africa) and was still held captive in Germany or occupied territories eventually dieing of wounds or illness in December 1946. He may have been transferred from German PoW camp to care of Red Cross some time previously.
