PO.Art. John George William Lockyer MID

Royal Navy HMS Adventure

from:Plymouth

John Lockyer was my grand father who I never met. But my dad has told me of a situation where my grand father worked hard with his engine room staff to get the broken down engines of the ship going to avoid sinking from enemy fire. My grandad served on more than one ship during WW2 but we are not sure if the above mentioned incident was on the HMS Adventure or another ship. He was awarded the MiD for his gallantry act and survived WW2. He sadly passed away around 1986 in Devon.
