LAC. Hubert Ronald "George" Houlding
Royal Air Force 252 Squadron
from:Preston, Lancs.
My Dad, Hubert Houlding met my Mum when posted to RAF St Athan, they corresponded during the War and married in 1946.
Dad enjoyed his war I think, although anecdotes about it mainly related to bully beef, brew ups and the lack or shortage of toilet paper.
I believe he was involved in the construction and maintenance of an air sea rescue hydroplane, a craft powered by an aircraft engine, with other aircraft components, ie rudder and floats. I believe he also got involved with the Bar None Motor Cycle Club, formed towards the end of the war to keep the restless and perhaps under employed men amused while waiting to go home.
