P/O. Peter M. Shaw
Royal Air Force 166 Squadron
from:Hipping Hall, Kirkby Lonsdale
(d.11th June 1944)
Peter Shaw flew a Lancaster bomber, taking off from Kirmington, Lincs on 10th of June 1944 at 22.31hrs.
The mission was to bomb the railway at Acheres, north of Paris.
The plane crashed at Mareil-le-Guyon and all seven members of the crew were lost.
I recently received information from the village where the graves are well looked after..
Peter's father, my grandfather, served with the RFC during the First World War and finished as a squadron commander. I'm wondering if he was in the same squadron?
He served as a colonel in the army during WW11.
I'd be grateful for any information.
