Pte. Leonard William Robins
British Army 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment
(d.11th September 1942)
Len Robins was my uncle (my mother's brother). He died in India of malaria and I didn't know too much about him except my mother would get very emotional as he was the youngest of five children. His father, William, served in the Boer War in SA and also WW1.
Sadly, there are no living members of the family to recall any information about Len but on going through some papers recently a letter was found from Capt. RCR Roche of 2nd Battalion Northamptonshire Regiment dated 5th of November 1942 and sent by Air Mail on 30th of January 1943, informing Len's wife of his death. The letter said that Len was buried in Ranchi War Cemetery in India, Plot 4, Row J, Grave No.7.
