Albert Phipps served on HMS Manchester from 19th November 1939 until the end, 13th of August 1942.
He was awarded the DSM published 1st January 1943 in the London Gazette
He served in the Royal navy from 29th of December 1921 until 30th of October 1945.
Albert was employed as a range finder on HMS Manchester. He was interned in Laghouat Camp, Algeria after the sinking of HMS Manchester until released by Allied forces in 1942, he returned to the UK on the 25th of November 1942.
