John "Lofty" Scotcher

John Scotcher served in Burma under General Slim, and he also served in Germany.
He was a Bren gun carrier driver.
He had a nickname (Lofty) because he was very tall. He was always the joker.
In 1953 he became very ill with rheumatoid arthritis. This completely disabled him for the rest of his life.
He died in the Royal Military Hospital, Woolwich in 1986.
