Gnr John Alexander Brooke
Canadian Army
from:Vancouver, BC Canada
My father, Jack Brooke volunteered at the beginning of the war in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He arrived in England on the 5th of September 1940. He was trained as a mechanic and in anti-aircraft guns. On 20th of March 1941 he was admitted to the Tidworth Hospital. His military record indicates that it might have been for an appendectomy, but I am not certain. He was transferred the same day to the Royal Victoria Hospital until 7th of April 1941.
He returned to Canada on 19th of April 1945 to his wife, who he had on married 30th of March 1940 in Canada, and his daughter born in Feb 1941.
