Pte. John Thomas Roberts
British Army 9th Btn. York and Lancashire Regiment
from:Swinton, Mexborough, South Yorkshire
I am one of John Roberts sons and I'm trying to learn more about my fathers' war.
He joined the York and Lancs before the outbreak of the war served in Belgium, France and was wounded in Burma.
After the war he worked as a labourer in Rotherham. He was a very humble man and never spoke of his service. I have his medals and a photograph of him in Burma but no more information.
After the war ended he married and raised twin boys on low wages but gave us more than we could ever wish for, he was simply the best father in the world.
I miss him so much.
