Norman Thornton
Auxiliary Fire Service
from:Coventry
My father, Norman Thornton was an engineer, I believe a factory inspector in Coventry. He became a fireman during WW2. He did have a public service vehicle license and he drove a fire engine. I know little more about the events, except that it was horrific. His own house was bombed and I still have a dining chair which still has signs of being scorched underneath.
