PO Reginald Jack "Reg" Fayers

RAF 76 Squadron

from:Sudbury, Suffolk

My grandfather, Reginald Fayers, flew Halifaxes with the 76 Squadron during WW2. He was the navigator. He was shot down on the 25/26 November 1943 after a raid on Frankfurt and became a POW. Three members of the crew managed to bale out at 8000' as the pilot fought for control. Tom Paton the bomb aimer and Sgt Flewell USAAF along with my grandfather were the 3. The pilot Steve Troake, Phil Weeks, Lou Barnes and Ruben Orr all died in the crash.
