Ted Bartlett enlisted in Harrogate in 1940 and served on the South coast during the invasion threat.
He was shipped to North Africa in 1941 with battalion and served in Operation Battleaxe and also in Cyprus before returning to Egypt where he was deployed as part of 150th Brigade at Rotunda Ulab, Lybia May 1942.
He was captured by units of D.A.K. and was a pow in Italy and later in Stalag 4b in Eastern Germany.
