Sig. Cecil Leon Fishel
British Army Eighth Army Royal Signals
from:Liverpool
My father, Cecil Fishel said he was captured in late June at El Alemain but I wonder if it was one of the minor battles just before this as he said he was captured on or around his 22nd birthday, which was the 18th of June 1942.
I reckon he was then shipped to Italy as I've found he was at Camp 57 then onwards to a Stalag in Austria, not far from Graz then it seems he was prisoner of war on some Austrian farm somewhere (for around 18 months).
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
He told one or two stories but they are rather gruesome. It seems he had a terribly difficult war and didn't tend to talk about it
