Leslie Collins worked on the Railway in a Reserved Occupation but left to join up to do his bit.
He did basic training at RAF Blyton at Gainsborough before joining 166 Squadron.
His First raid was on Berlin on the 1st of January 1944,then Berlin again the following night, Stettin on the 5th, Brunswick on the 14th, Berlin on the 20th and Magdeburg on the 21st when he failed to return.
