Royal Engineers from:Lambeth (d.21st Jul 1944) After the war a pal of my grandfather, Alexander Bird knocked on the door to tell the family that he was killed from a blast whilst walking along side a vehicle that drove over a mine. From my research, the unit was mine clearing in the area by the Chateau De Cordillion. He is buried in Jerusalem War Cemetery at Chouain, Normandy.
