AB. Samuel Isaiah Parkes
Royal Navy HMS Copra
from:Bilston, West Midlands
Dad, Samuel Isaiah Parkes didn't talk much about the war.
We know he drove the landing crafts, and he had a perforated eardrum as they fired the guns on board ship before he could get his protection on.
He suffered terribly with his ear after the war.
He served from 1942 until 1946 in HMS Ganges, HMS Pembroke, HMS Dinosaur and HMS Copra.
