Pte George W Pritchard
British Army 1/5th Btn. Welsh Regiment
from:Chipperfield, Herts
(d.15th February 1945)
George Pritchard was a son of a farmer from Tuffs Farm, in Chipperfield in Hertfordshire. He served with the 1/5th Battalion, Welsh Regiment in WW2 and was killed on the 15th of February 1945 during the Battle for the Rhine. One story says he was killed by a German sniper another that he was killed by a mortar splinter.
He was aged 18 years and is buried in the CWGC site in the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery in Germany.
During my service in the RAF in West Germany from 1967 to 1970 I was able to take his sister and other relatives to visit his grave. It gave them closure to see his grave and how well it is kept.
