Cpl. Peter Macdonald Groves
British Army Middlesex Regiment
from:Hounslow
My Dad, Peter Groves, joined The Territorial Army in 1938. He added two years on to his age to get in. Then, when WW2 broke out, he was sent to take part in the North African campaign.
He was there for the 3 years of fighting and then chased the Axis forces across the sea to Salerno in 1943. He was in the Battle of Cassino. He came back home to England 1946 almost a year after the war ended.
