Tom Clarkson gave his war memories to the Gordon Highlanders museum.
He was conscripted in 1940, serving with the 6th Battalion, Gordon Highlanders and served in North Africa and at the Battle of Anzio.
He was taken prisoner there when he was wounded in the leg and spent the rest of the war in a prisoner of war camp.
He was part of the forced march as the Allies moved into Germany and was eventually liberated by the Americans.
