Cpl. Richard John Parker

British Army Welsh Regiment

from:Wales

My grandfather, Richard Parker, known as Dick, was captured by the Nazis in Italy. He was working with the Italian Resistance and spoke fluent Italian. Unfortunately, his comrade did not, which led to capture. He was transferred to Stalag IV-B, Muhlberg in 1943. I am currently researching but am aware that his service started before WW2 as he was in Palestine when it broke out. He also served in Crete.

My grandmother did not see him for many years as she had been told he was missing presumed dead, but he was in Muhlberg. It was only after the war had ended she was told he was alive (barely). I believe that when the Red Army liberated in 1945, my grandfather walked to the nearest Allied base, which I do not know about yet.

Any information I can obtain will be incredibly precious.
