Francis Howis was a member of the 2nd Battalion, Scots Guards, Guards Armoured Division, XXX Corps, he drove a Churchill tank whilst serving in northwest Europe (France, Holland, Germany). He participated in the Battle of the Rhineland from March to May 1945.
