Samuel Rogers was the second of 10 children (7 sons and 3 daughters) of William Crawford Rogers and Jessie (nee Whitmore) Rogers. He was born in Willington Quay, Northumberland on in 1910. He is buried in Plymouth (Weston Mill Cemetery).
