Gnr. Leonard Reginald Swatton

British Army Royal Artillery

from:27 Western Road, Winchester

Dad, Leonard Swatton was taken POW at St. Valery en Caux and was a POW for 5 years in Stalag 8B. He was also on the Death March. He told me when I was a child that the Germans marched them round and round in circles but when I became secretary of the Bournemouth & Poole Branch of the Veterans of Dunkirk another member, now deceased, told me of the Death March, so of course I put two and two together and realised this 'marching round and round in circles' was actually the Death March. Dad's POW Number is 17832

He sadly passed away in September 1993.
