Grdsmn. Eric Clarence "Timber" Woods
British Army 3rd Btn. Grenadier Guards
from:Saxmundham, Suffolk
Eric Woods, my father, joined the Grenadier Guards when war broke out in September 1939. He was on active service in North Africa, Italy, and Austria. He fought in many campaigns, including Monte Cassino, was wounded by machine-gun fire crossing the river Po, but saw the war out and was honourably discharged in Scotland near Hawick in 1946. Unfortunately, I don't have much else to tell.
