Sgt. William Henry Williams
British Army 44th Regiment Reconnaissance Corps
from:Boston
(d.31st Jan 1945)
We know very little about William Williams. He lost both his parents when he was young (pre-war), and his younger brother, Thomas Rees Williams, was in the RAF as an air gunner in 207 Squadron. He wrote to his brother whilst on leave. The message was brief, yet emotional.
William was wounded by a stray bullet and died from that wound months after he was shot. He is laid to rest in Coriano Ridge War Cemetery in Italy.
Any information on his contribution to the 44th Regiment would be fantastic.
