Queens Royal Regiment (West Surrey) from:Sydenham, London (d.21st May 1940) William Woodbridge is one of only two British soldiers buried in the Cocquerel Churchyard.. He was killed whilst with the British Expeditionary Force. The family story is that he and another wounded soldier were stranded while making their way back. Germans surrounded the barn they were in, barricaded the doors, and burned them alive.
