Pte. Edward Cecil "Snowy" Folland
British Army 5th Btn. Royal Hampshire Regiment
from:Portsmouth
I remember my Dad, Edward Folland mentioned Burton Bradstock in Dorset and Chilbolton in Hampshire. My mother took me to see him in camp at (I think) Newport on the Isle of Wight. The camp was almost beneath a railway bridge or viaduct. I remember we saw him off on a troop train from Portsmouth at the High Level station, which I think was after embarkation leave. He brought home trinkets from maybe Austria? and currency notes from Italy and British Occupation Military money.
