Pte. Walter John Allpress

British Army

from:Cambridge

Walter Allpress, was my father. He died in the late 1990's. He was born in 1924. I have a photo of him showing a hat with a green plume and an Irish harp. He never spoke to his children of the war. He was born in Cambridge in 1924, and named Walter John Allpress, known as John to the family.

Our parents married in Trieste 6th of March 1947. My mother was an Italian, born in Trieste, Italy, married in Tin St Justo Cathedral, Trieste, Italy. Both were Catholics. My father's mother was Irish her name was Honora Delaney. I have copies of my parents' marriage certificate and my father's birth certificate, along with a photo of him in Salerno, Italy in 1945, he was 21 at the time. I also have a copy of his mother's and his parents' marriage certificate.

The family would appreciate any information you may have. Thank you for your help in anticipation, I know its a black hole.
