PFC. Richard B. Drozdowski
US Army 1st Division

Richard Drozdowski enlisted in 1940 and served with the 1st Infantry Division. First into North Africa in the North Africa Invasion. He was captured at Casserine Pass and sent to Italian Prison Camp, in Sicily. He was then tranferred to Prussia where he was released by Russian Forces in 1945.
He was drafted in 1948 and assigned to 2nd Division, the first unit to sent to Korea. Captured by Chinese forces he escaped and returned to duty.
A Purple Heart was awarded along with Korean Service awards. Richard was a First Sergeant Automatic Rifleman. One of 29 men out of 250 men in his Armored Recon Team to return Home.
