Pte. William Sheridan Hedley
Australian Army 2/11th Btn. Australian Imperial Force
from:Swan Reach, Victoria, Australia
During WW2, William Hedley fought in the Battle of Crete and was taken as a POW. He spent 4 years in Stalag XIII-C and was released when the war ended.
He came home to find that his wife had started a new life with another man, believing he was killed in action because 'Mr. Hedley's warm and affectionate letters' had ceased without apparent reason. His wife and family had not received any information about his capture.
