Pte. Mervyn Thomas
British Army 10th Btn. Gloucestershire Regiment
from:Wales
My father, Mervyn Thomas, served with the Gloucestershire Regiment. He told me he was in India, Burma, and Norway, and that he then became a medical orderly and was serving with the RAMC 11th Light Field Ambulance when it helped liberate the Bergen-Belsen Concentration Camp. I believe he served for nine years (at the end of WW2, he continued on the Reserve List for three years). My mother had his red service book and other papers but they are now lost. Last year I wrote an autobiography. I included both my parents' service history but didn't really have enough details about my father. I would like to find out more in order to update my records.
