Dvr. Edward Collins

British Army Royal Army Service Corps

from:West Sussex

Edward Collins, my grandad served with the 8th Royal Army Service Corps. Joined 9th of December 1940 and trained at Hindhead. He was a messenger for the offence depot London and he drove lorries in Eygpt. He would drive in convoy with other lorries along roads and if they saw young children on the side of the road they just had to keep driving as the children were used as decoys. I think he also went to Portugal after the war ended. I think he served about 4 years.
