Tpr. James Allan Hopkins
British Army 3rd Carabineers Royal Armoured Corps
from:Ramsgate, Kent
My father, James Hopkins enrolled into the army in 1932 when he was 18 years old.
He trained in Colchester.
He went to war and was posted as missing on 8th of April 1941 at Machili in the Middle East. He was then a POW in PG78 Sulmona and then Stalag IV-f at Hartmannsdorf, Saxony.
I would like to know more about his experience as a POW. I remember him telling stories to my brothers, but unfortunately they cannot recall details.
I have letters he sent to my mother which I hope to add to this project.
