Sgt. Robert William "Tosher" Pearce
British Army 100 Bty, 13th Anti Tank Regiment Royal Artillery

My Father, Robert Pearce was a pre war Territorial soldier, serving in the 6th Battalion, (Duke of Conaught's Own) Hampshire Regiment.
This unit converted to Anti Tank Artillery in 1938/9 forming The 59th and 69th Anti Tank Regiments.
He was posted from 59th Anti Tank to 13th Anti Tank Regiment and joined 100th Battery, in Jan 1941, embarking for service overseas on 11th of April 1942, disembarking in India 12th of June 1942. One month later the Regiment embarked for the Middle East, arriving Suez on 22nd of July 1942. From there, he moved to Iraq where the Regiment formed part of PAIFORCE.
After further moves to Middle East Land Forces in 1943 and then into Italy in 1944, his war ended in the far North of Italy near Trieste, from whence he was progressively moved back to UK, being released to Class Z (T) Reserve on 21st Jan 1946.
He latterly served another 4 years as a Sergeant in the 4th Battalion, Royal Hampshire Regiment, finally leaving the service on 31st July 1950.
